“A Bridge Too Far” is an adaptation of Cornelius Ryan’s book about the Battle of Arnhem. In 1944, the Allied powers tried to hasten the end of World War II by capturing the six bridges connectingHolland toGermany. Plagued by misinformation, adverse conditions and overconfidence, the operation ended in defeat.
Sir Richard Attenborough directed the star-laden cast, including James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Elliot Gould, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Lawrence Olivier, Ryan O’Neal, Robert Redford and Maximillian Schell.
A concert on the theatre’s historic four-manual Aeolian-Skinner organ precedes the film at 1:30 PM.
