Craig George's new "Photo Boot Camp" is brought to you by Annville Inn Bed & Breakfast-at a very, very special rate to members of your group: We reduce the usual $475 tuition down to only $195 per student! Your only costs are lodging, some meals and a materials fee. Save $280

Here is how it works:

• Members of your club book all five guest rooms at the Inn, with each member staying for two nights. Single or double occupancy.
• Perfect for couples, even if only one of them is a photographer and plans to attend the course. The non-photographer will find plenty to do at the Inn or in the Hershey and Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish community or even the Hollywood Casino. Everything is within minutes of the Inn.

Craig George is an award-winning photographer from the Southwest, where he operated two portrait studios, creating portraits of local celebrities, personal portraits of two U.S. Presidents, regional business people and their families, etc. He became President of a statewide association of professional photographers, the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma, and was instrumental in the move of the International Photography Hall of Fame from Santa Barbara, California to Oklahoma City, where it remains today.

When he was 32, Craig became one of the youngest Craftsman Photographers in the USA. His work has been displayed at the Smithsonian, International Photography Hall of Fame, uncountable juried print competitions around the United States and numerous galleries. He states, though, his most important displays are those that are in the homes and offices of his clients.

Limited Enrollment: Your club must book five guest rooms for two nights each, minimum. Each guest room can accommodate two people, and two guest rooms can accommodate three persons.

• If your club has more than five who wish to attend (they are encouraged to bring spouses/partners, etc.) please book multiple dates.
• You must be a guest of Annville Inn, staying for two nights, to participate in the boot camp.

Advancing the Art of Photography Through the Natural World

Objectives: Designed for novice to professionals, anyone with a love of photography and an open mind coupled with a desire to improve their craft.

• You will leave for home at the course's conclusion satisfied and confident that you are on track to advance your art.
• Gain a competitive edge with your competition prints. Learn what the print jury is looking for.
• Create photographs that sell.
• Create photographs that do well in competition.
• Learn the subconscious factors that give your images appeal.
• Lighting: enhance your understanding of subtractive and additive lighting.
• Composition: Study mistakes and successes of other artists using other media. Example: We will study some of the old world master painters.
• Expression: Not just for people.
• Be the Story Teller
• Paint with Light

Discipline: We will focus on composition and lighting; learning to see the image in the mind's eye prior to capturing it in digital memory or on film and using the camera as our tool, just as the brush is the tool of the painter. We will use the natural world as well as people and animals as our subjects.

Weekend Itinerary

Day One:

4:00 to 6:00 pm check in & get settled
7:00 pm - Dinner together (not included in tuition) providing an opportunity to know one another.
After Dinner: Enjoy the many amenities of the Inn, casual conversation, and networking. Look through the Inn's small museum of photographic equipment including our rare 10"x10" Century Studio Master Camera.

Day Two:

6:30 to 8: a.m. Optional photo safari
8:30 am - Candlelit gourmet breakfast in the Inn's Dining Room
10:30 am - First Session: Composition. Craig will discuss one of the topics of art that is closest to his heart: The True Art of Composition.
Noon: Review images made by early risers at the 6:30 optional session.
12:45 pm - Lunch at the Inn. (included in tuition) Craig will discuss sites we will visit for our upcoming safari.
1:45 pm - Photography of the human face. At professional photography schools and conventions, an entire day, or even a full five-day session is devoted to this topic. Here, with our small, intense group, we will be able to accomplish a great deal in a short time, although it will not be a week long treatment, of course. Even if you do not photograph people, you will gain important insight valuable to your craft.
2:45 pm - break with refreshments (included in tuition)
3:00 pm - Photo safari at Swatara Creek wilderness area, minutes from Annville Inn.
5:30 pm - Back to the Inn to freshen up and get ready for dinner & photography show.
6:15 pm - Dinner at an excellent local restaurant. (not included in tuition)
8:15 to 9:15 pm - Showing of all the images made at the safari. Voting on favorite image based upon technique you've learned from Craig so far.
9:30 pm - On your own, enjoy the features of the Inn, including extraordinarily comfortable beds. Drift off to sleep thinking f/stops.

Day Three:

6:30: am - Meet in Inn's Conservatory for Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate.
7:00 am - Leave for Safari to: Ft. Indiantown Gap, National Cemetery & Memorial Lake
9:00 am - Back at Inn for gourmet breakfast
11:00 am - Review & Critique of the morning's safari
11:30 am - Program completed.
11:45 am -Check Out, receive certificate for completion of course. Or, on a pre-arranged basis, can extend to a third night reservation to have an extra day in the Inn & the Hershey area, checking out tomorrow. {This is proving to be a very popular option!}
